Oak Hill Cemetery
Merrimac, Sauk County, Wisconsin

Lat: 43° 22' 37"N, Lon: 89° 37' 54"W
Merrimac Twp, Sec 2

Contributed by Kathy Waddell, Aug 31, 2002, last edited Jun 25, 2012 [kaffe03@yahoo.com]. Total records = 1,058.

Location: Off Highway 78 in Merrimac, north on Baraboo Street, under railroad bridge, cemetery is on the left, driveway is just past road that goes to the left.

Or from the city of Baraboo, take Hwy 113 to Hwy DL to the east. Turn right on Bluff Road at the Schoolhouse Restaurant. The cemetery is on the right about 2 miles or so up the road. Bluff Road turns into Baraboo Street. If you go under the railroad bridge, you've gone too far.

This cemetery is also known as Merrrimac Cemetery and Park Hill Cemetery.

Rows were copied from the oldest part (eastern most rows) to the newest part. A driveway separates the north section from the south section. Many stones are now illegible.

Reference used to verify markers not there or unreadable was taken from information obtained by members of the Wisconsin Old Cemetery Society when the cemetery and sexton records were copied in September, 1979. There are current burials in the cemetery.

I transcribed this cemetery Aug 31, 2002 from those readings.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
