Sauk Prairie Cemetery (Yankee Street Cemetery)
Town of Prairie du Sac, Sauk County, Wisconsin

Contributed by Kathy Waddell, Apr 16, 2003, last edited Feb 05, 2006 [kaffe03@yahoo.com]. Total records = 732.

Location: At the intersection of Highway 12 and County Z on the east side of the road. It is about 3 mi northwest of Prairie du Sac.

This cemetery is also known as the Sumpter Cemetery. It is owned and maintained by the Sauk Prairie Cemetery Association.

Reference used to verify markers not there or unreadable was taken from information obtained by members of the Wisconsin Old Cemetery Society when the cemetery was copied in the summer of 1979. There are current burials in the cemetery. It is believed there are many unmarked graves. Burials date as far back as 1843 with the oldest stone that is legible being 1846.

I surveyed and copied this cemetery on Jun 09, 2002.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
