Campbell Cemetery (aka Russell Cemetery)
Ansted, Fayette County, West Virginia

Lat: 38°08'15"N, Lon: 81°05'54"W

Contributed by Anne Lockard, Jul 29, 2001 [tammy@hawksnet.net]. Total records = 22.

Directions: On Rt. 60, at Ansted, take road on right, beside Deligne's Car Dealership. At bottom of hill is a bridge. Cross bridge and start up hill. Take first road to the right. A homemade sign welcomes you to Russell Hill. In between the fifth and sixth houses on the right is Cemetery.

It is off the roadand rough access getting to CAMPBELL Cemetery, thru woods. Easier access may be possible if you knock on the door of the JAMES home and ask permission to walk in on the edge of their property.

The cemetery lies in a wooded area. It has been cleaned up, with the exception of a few (?) graves that have been "lost" in the woods over the years. Also, there are a few graves with no markers. The condition of the cemetery is good.

Campbell cemetery may also be known by the name of Russell Cemetery. Arrangements were made that if the property was sold, the cemetery would always be accessible.

Anyone who has more info about this cemetery (or if there's any corrections we need to make) and would be willing to share it, please contact me at Box 111, Lansing WV 25862-0111.

Data and pics were taken on the afternoon of Jul 17, 2001 by Anne Bragg Lockard and Helen Bragg Stone. Digital pics of each grave were taken. All names and data are recorded in my notebook.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
