Monongalia County Cemetery
Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia

West Run Road, Morgantown WV

Lat: 39°41'17"N, Lon: 79°49'53"W

Contributed by Jennifer Selfridge, Jul 22, 2003 [jselfrid@mix.wvu.edu]. Total records = 7.

I-68 to Exit 7, Pierpont Road. Take Rt 857 (turn right if coming from I-68 East, turn left if coming from I-68 West). Go through the second traffic light - you will now be on Rt 119 N (about 1.2 miles). At the next traffic light, turn left onto Stewartstown Road (Rt 67) (about 1.2 miles). Immediately after the WVU Animal Husbandry Farm, turn right onto West Run Road (Rt 67/1) (about 1 mile). It will be on your right hand side. There is a small gravel parking area on the right hand side immediately before the cemetery. There is an overgrown dirt path that cuts through the woods from the parking area to the cemetery.

This cemetery is mowed. The parking area is sketchy. The path from the parking area is overgrown. The cemetery is difficult to see from the road unless you are really looking for it and driving slow.

This cemetery is owned and maintained by the Monongalia County Commission, which has a board of officers.

I walked and read all of this cemetery on Jul 01, 2003. Sadly there are not many legible markers and 324 unmarked white marker stones.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
