Take Rt. 95 out of South Parkersburg. Turn left onto Rt. 68 South and go .6 miles to Lake Washington Road. Turn right onto Lake Washington Road and go .3 miles. There will be a sign on the right side of the road for the Bethel Baptist Church. The cemetery is on the hill behind the Church.

This cemetery is still active. It is owned and maintained by the Bethel Baptist Church, organized in 1847. The lower section next to the Church contains the oldest burials. Many of the stones in this section are very weather worn. Some are broken and have fallen over. A few of the older stones have had replacement markers set next to them.

Historian, John A. House noted a few stones that I was unable to locate/read. These will be noted with an asterisk (*). Complete accuracy of this transcription cannot be guaranteed, please verify with other sources.

I walked and transcribed all existing stones in this cemetery on May 17, 2004.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
