Take Rt. 50 East out of Parkersburg for about 16 miles to Borland Springs Road (just past Mountwood Park). Turn left off of Rt. 50 onto Borland Springs Road. Follow Borland Springs Road for 2.75 miles. You will come to a low water bridge, cross the bridge & turn right onto Bull Creek Road (CR#1/6). Follow Bull Creek Road for about 2 miles to CR#20/2. Turn right onto CR#20/2. Cross the creek & stop at the very first gate at the base of the hill. Go through the cattle pasture about 200 yards, turn left & go up over the hill. The cemetery sits at the top of the hill to the left.

This is a very old family cemetery. The property has been in the Janes family for several generations. The cemetery is surrounded by a fence. It is only mowed around Memorial Day. Many of the stones are very weather worn & difficult to read. Several of the stones have fallen over and/or are broken. Accuracy of this transcription cannot be guaranteed, please verify dates with other sources.

Pleasants County, WV researcher, Gerald Bills, has the following individuals as being buried in the Newland Cemetery. I was unable to locate tombstones for them. They are identified with an asterisk *

I walked and transcribed this cemetery on May 26, 2003.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
