Take Rt. 50 East out of Parkersburg for about 11 miles. The Cemetery road is the next left just past the Progress Ridge Exit. Follow this gravel road up the hill always bearing to the right. The road ends at the cemetery.

This cemetery belongs to, and is maintained by the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. The Cemetery name was changed from Pleasant Valley to Skidmore in honor of the Skidmore family, who donated the property. The cemetery is still active.

I walked through and transcribed the stones in this cemetery on Apr 06, 2002.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
