From Richmond follow route 143 North to the small town of L'Avenir, about half way between Richmond and Drummondville. The cemetery is not visible from route 143. Watch for the cemetery sign on your right at the north end of town and a long scenic entry road into the cemetery.
Cemetery Background
The parish was created in 1850 and the first cemetery existed until 1893. The present cemetery, also called L'Avenir Catholic Cemetery is in the former Drummond County and now part of Centre du Quebec and Drummond MRC. Interred here is Jean Baptiste Dorion, also known as l'enfant terrible (the terrible child).
Cemetery Records
Records linked below were transcribed from tombstone inscriptions by Leslie and Susan Nutbrown during a visit to the cemetery in October 2015. The cemetery is in very good shape.
