Old Lourdes-de-Blanc-Sablon Cemetery

Lourdes-de-Blanc-Sablon is situated on the lower North Shore of St Lawrence, Quebec, at about 5 km from Labrador in the region�of Basse Cote Nord.

The name of this old catholic cemetery was the name of the village at first (Anse-aux-Dunes). In 1895, both the village and the cemetery were named Longue Pointe. But the village grew and in 1916 it was named Lourdes-de-Blanc-Sablon. So the name of the cemetery changed for the name of the village another time.

Later, a new cemetery was built about 2 miles east of the first one, which is the one that is used most of the time nowadays. That's why people used to speak of this one as "the old" cemetery of Lourdes de Blanc-Sablon.
