McAulay Cemetery
Whitton, Frontenac County, Quebec
Contributed by Leslie Nutbrown, Aug 14, 2006. . Total records = 5.
From Sherbrooke take Route 143 South to Lennoxville. Turn left at the light (Route 108 East) and continue for 45 minutes or so passing through Cookshire, Bury and Gould until you reach the town of Stornoway. Turn right (south) on route 161 at Stornoway. The cemetery is about half way between Stornoway and Nantes. Watch for Sand Hill Cemetery on your left and the McAulay Cemetery is just past the Sand Hill Cemetery on the opposite side of the road.
This small cemetery is another of the burial grounds of Scottish settlers, mainly from the Isle of Lewis, Scotland who once lived in Frontenac County. This cemetery is kept mowed. It has no fence and a couple of stones are somewhat hidden by small trees.
I recorded this cemetery in August 2006 from all legible tombstones.
