From Leeds Village take Craig Road (route 269 North) about 11 km, then follow route 216 to Saint Sylvester, today spelled Saint-Sylvestre, in the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative region. The cemetery is behind the church.

The parish began in 1829. In the early days this area was first settled by Irish Catholics. Over time as more French Canadians moved in the Irish community declined. The parish served the surrounding communities of Saint-Patrice de Beaurivage, Saint-Narcisse and Saint-Elzéar.

Cemetery Records

Records linked below were transcribed from monument inscriptions and church records by Leslie and Susan Nutbrown in 2017. Church records were examined for this transcription which yielded almost an additional 2,000 records of persons who were buried without monuments.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
