Cemetery History
Stratford is a small town in farm country half way between Thetford Mines and Lake Megantic. It is located in Stratford Township, Wolfe County now called the Regional County Municipality of Le Granit.
Stratford is in a scenic area with 5 lakes, the largest being Lake Aylmer. It was named after Stratford-Upon-Avon in England but today the population is almost 100% French Canadian.
The parish was founded in 1857 and the church records begin that year.
Cemetery Records
Records below were transcribed from tombstone inscriptions by Leslie and Susan Nutbrown during a visit to the cemetery in 2022. An additional 580 records for persons who were buried without a marker were sourced from church records covering a period of 1857-1940.
