To reach the Mount Calvary cemetery from Clay, drive north on Old Springville Road about 1.5 miles, then left onto Clayton Road and continue through the community of Ayres and turn left onto Cedar Mountain Road. The cemetery will be on your right or north side of the road very soon.

Mount Calvary Cemetery is owned and maintained by the Mount Calvary Presbyterian Church in Clay, Alabama at 9392 Cedar Mountain Road, Pinson, 35126. This area was formerly known as Ayers. Both the church and cemetery are marked by Jefferson County Historical Markers.

The church was founded in 1806. The cemetery began in 1830 with the burial of Nancy Paerson, d/o William S. Turner. The cemetery is in excellent shape with only minor vandalism in evidence. It is bordered by the church on the west, Cedar Mountain Road on the south and wooded areas on the other two sides. The area is sparsely populated.

I completed transcribing this cemetery on Apr 25, 2007. It is a complete listing of all of the existing and legible stones in this cemetery.
