Cemetery History
John Greenwood was a trapper and guide who came to California in 1844. By 1849 he had established a trading post. This gold rush town at one time had a theater, four hotels, 14 stores a brewery and four saloons. Today all of those older buildings are gone. The only thing left in Greenwood is the cemetery which began in 1852.
The cemetery seems to have occasional recent burials, perhaps those who had previously purchased a burial site.
