Argos Cemetery is located in the abandoned town of Argos. Driving east along Interstate 40, exit into the town of Ludlow, and turn right. Drive towards the back of town, until you find the railroad tracks. Drive west, following the railroad tracks for about 5.5 miles and you'll eventually come into Argos. You won't see any buildings or structures because they are all gone. You will need a GPS device to find this cemetery. Watch the device until you reach the exact location.

Argos was a mining settlement. All that remains are some concrete blocks, some wooden posts mounted into the ground, and lots of rusted cans strewn about everywhere. Most people today have never heard of this place.

I visited this cemetery on March 17, 2001. The cemetery lies on the south side of the railroad tracks, between the tracks and the dirt road. The graves are marked by piles of stones, though the piles are not too well visible. Most likely, these are railroad and mining workers. It's not too clear how many bodies are buried here.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
