Take I-275 into Tampa to Fletcher Avenue - Exit 35 Go west on Fletcher Ave for approximately 2 miles. Turn south (left) at the traffic light at Armenia Ave, go about 0.5 miles. Turn east (left) onto Myers Lane. The cemetery is on both sides of this street.
Lake Carroll Cemetery is a ministry of the Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, 2902 Fletcher Avenue West, Tampa, Florida 33618. The cemetery is not on the church grounds but it is only about a mile from the church.
The Lake Carroll Cemetery has been under the ministry of the Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church since 1946. On Apr 21, 1946, Mrs. Lucretia Fleagle transferred the deed of the land of the Lake Carroll Cemetery to the Lake Magdalene United Brethren Church. A fund was set up at that time for perpetual care of the cemetery.
No change in the name of the cemetery was made. Additional land adjoining the cemetery on the North was obtained for future use of the church and it's friends. In 1968, the Lake Magdalene United Brethren Church changed its name to the Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church. There is no history prior to 1946 other than it was under the care of the Baptist Church.
This is a complete registry of the cemetery. My scout troop recorded all the tombstones, then I matched those names with the church records. I found that the church had some names that did not have tombstones and these were added to the registry, noted with and asterisk *.
This is my Eagle Project for the Boy Scouts. This project took a total of 115 hours to complete over a 10 month period. The data entry and data validation took the longest. This information is accurate through Jul 31, 2002.
For any additions, corrections or further information, please contact me at the address above. There are some unknown burials.
