History

Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery was established in 2001 on 142 acres of land received from the Georgia Forestry Commission. In May 2011, construction was completed on Phase II of the cemetery. This phase encompassed about 10 acres and added approximately 1,300 casketed burial plots and 600 cremation plots in the cemetery. The cemetery will eventually be the final resting place for more than 100,000 eligible veterans, their spouses, and eligible dependents.
