To reach this cemetery from the Divernon exit off I-55 proceed west on Brown Street. Turn left (south) on 1st Street. Turn right (west) on Hogan Road. The cemetery is on the right (north) side of Hogan Road.
Brush Creek Cemetery is in excellent condition and has been maintained by Brush Creek Cemetery Association Inc. since August 1961. This cemetery is sometimes referred to as the Divernon Cemetery because of it's location.
The cemetery is broken up into 6 sections. Paved driveways separate each section. Looking north this is how the sections are laid out.
In Section 2 there are 10 stones that were moved from Smith, (aka Anthony, aka Indian) Cemetery. Stones moved from Smith Cemetery to Brush Creek Cemetery are noted.
Section 1 = N.W. corner
Section 4 = S.W. cornerSection 2 = N. center
Section 5 = S. centerSection 3 = N.E. corner
Section 6 = S.E. corner
I surveyed this cemetery October 14-16, 2007. I have taken digital photos of all visable markers.
