Mound Cemetery (Bell Mound Cemetery)
Howard County, Indiana

Ervin Township, Sec 18
Contributed by Frieda Klopfenstein, Jul 07, 2003 [klopfensteinf@msn.com]. Total records = 493.
To reach the cemetery from Kokomo, drive west on State Road 22 about 11 miles to road 1150W, turn north on 1150W and drive 2 1/2 miles, then turn west on road 350N. The cemetery is located about ½ mile west on road 350N on the north side of the road.
The sign at the entrance to the cemetery indicates it is Mound Cemetery, but it is identified as Bell Mound on many maps. The cemetery is located in Northwest Ervin Township in Howard County Indiana.
The burials range from the early 1850's to the present and the cemetery is currently in use. The north section of the cemetery contains the oldest markers. It is also in need of serious preventive and corrective maintenance. There were many markers off their base, several broken markers, and still other markers partially off their base and likely candidates for future storm damage and breakage. The middle section, which contains current burials, was in much better condition. The south section appears to be in reserve for future burials.
I have not included markers which were lying upside down, there were at least a couple of those. I videotaped the cemetery on 25 May 2003. I have included all existing and legible markers currently in the cemetery.
