History

The Old Coney Cemetery is located in a hilly, semi-wooded area on the intersection of Old Legislative Road and Old Coney Cemetery Rd in Lonaconing approximately 1/4 mile north of Rt. 36. The cemetery is significant because it is the grave site of some of the early settlers. It includes the graves of Henry and Rachel Wright who resided at a farm just east of the cemetery. Also found in the cemetery are examples of early, decorative wrought iron gates.
