In Port Tobacco, go .35 miles west on Highway 6 until you reach Rose Hill Road. Turn there and go north/northwest for .8 miles until you find the sign that says Rose Hill. Turn there and go south and then a little to the east for .25 miles until you get to the circular driveway. The headstone is about 40 yards southwest from the back of the house.
Dr. Gustavus Brown was a noted colonist from Charles County Maryland. He and his family owned a manor called Rose Hill. When he died, his wife erected a tombstone for her husband on the property. It is interesting to note that his son Gustavus Brown is buried in the Stone Family Cemetery (Port Tobacco). He was also a friend to George Washington and he was one of attending physicians when George Washington died. The grave is well taken care of by the owners who live in the manor.
