This cemetery is south of the intersection of Spencerville Road (Hwy 198) on west side of Good Hope Road beside the church. This area was historically associated with Spencerville, MD but is now part of greater Silver Spring, MD.
The cemetery dates back to about 1870 and is an African American cemetery. The cemetery is owned and maintained by the Round Oak Missionary Baptist Church.
There are many that are no longer legible. There are also many that are damaged (broken off or in half). Also, there are many graves that have the temporary funeral home markers from Snowden Funeral Home in Rockville, MD (some are 40 years old). This cemetery also has graves marked with rocks, some have been displaced. This list represent have � of the possible number of grave based on plot alignments and the history of the church.
Bridget Johnson and I transcribed this cemetery from all existing and legible stones and markers on Mar 31 and Apr 01, 2009. We found the cemetery in poor and neglected condition.
