Boones Chapel Cemetery
Cheltenham, Prince George County, Maryland

11401 Van Brady Road
Cheltenham, Maryland

Contributed by Anne Braun, Nov 14, 2004 [annieb1961@comcast.net]. Total records = 3.

In Cheltenham, from the intersection of Highway 301 and Old Indian Head Highway, go east on Indian Head Highway for .5 miles until you reach Von Brady Road. Turn east on Von Brady Road and go .4 east/southeast until you reach the mailbox that has the address of 11401 Van Brady Road. Turn onto the dirt road there and go south for .3 mile. The cemetery is on the west side of the road in the woods. You will see two wooden crosses.

The cemetery once belonged to Boones Catholic Chapel Church and was used by the Catholic Familes of the area. The church disbanded sometime in the 1840's. Today, the Selby's own the land.

The cemetery is all that remains with 3 headstones, 2 wooden crosses, and a few indentations in the ground meaning a burial occurred there.

I visited this burial site on Nov 13, 2004. I compared my findings with "Stones and Bones" which was published in 1984.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
