Byrd Cemetery
Basin, George County, Mississippi

Lat: 30° 45' 32"N, Lon: 88° 38' 09"W
T3S R7W Section 25

Contributed by James Trussell, Dec 12, 2007 [carverofwood1260@wmconnect.com].  Total records = 7.

Leave Lucedale, Mississippi on old highway 63. You will go south 4.8 miles and will run into the highway 63 by-pass, turn left onto the by-pass and now go another 6.0 miles. You will see Grain Elevator Road on your right, take the right hand turn and go approximately 4 miles to the Salem Campground road on your left. Take the left and now you will go south, when you see the rural mailbox #2161 on your left, turn on the small dirt lane directly across the road.

This is a private drive and the cemetery will be on your right about 50 yards ahead. This private cemetery and upkeep is done by family members. The gate has a sign saying "Reubin Byrd Cemetery", I have also been told it is sometimes referred to as the Jim Byrd Cemetery. There is a chain link fence and the cemetery is in pretty good condition for the age of it.

I walked this cemetery on Dec 10, 2007, and the information was taken from headstone and concrete slab inscriptions.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
