Traveling south on highway 63 from Leakesville, Mississippi you will go 2.3 miles and there will be an intersection with Vernal River Road on your right. Take this right (west) hand turn and go 5.8 miles and the cemetery is located on your right or north side of road, in the corner of a front yard to an old home place.

This small family cemetery dates back to 1919, with the first burial listed being that of Elizabeth Williams Green. In later years some call it the McInnis Green Cemetery. There is another Green Cemetery west of this one on the south side of the same road.

I was told by the home owner that he mows the grass in the cemetery a couple times a year, but was really not sure who owned the cemetery. From the dates on the headstones you can see it has nearly been 30 years since anyone was buried there. It is surrounded by a chain link fence, and the may be some unmarked graves in the cemetery.

I walked this cemetery on Apr 13, 2007. All information was gathered from headstone inscriptions.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
