This cemetery, which is on on Graveyard Island., can only be reached by walking 3 miles down train tracks or by boat. The train tracks are located at Old Whitney. This cemetery is to the north of Cemetery #1.

These graves were moved to Graveyard Island between 1915 and 1917 when Alcoa decided to dam the Yadkin River. I cannot find another name for the cemetery so am giving it a number.

From what I have researched on Graveyard Island is that there are 3 or more cemeteries on this Island. They were moved out of the way before they flooded the valley that is now Badin Lake..

I walked this cemetery Oct 03, 2003 and recorded all tombrocks.

There are no readable tombrocks in this cemetery and some are unmarked There are 200 to 300 rock marked graves.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
