From the intersection of Hwy. 55 (Williams St.) and SR 1011 (old US #1) in Apex, take SR 1011 southwest for 3.5 miles to a right turn onto Humie Olive Rd., (SR 1142). Go 3/10 miles on Humie Olive Rd. to a right turn onto Evans Rd. (SR 1147), and go 1/10 mile to the cemetery located on Walden Rd. just past the "Y" in the road where Walden Rd. bears off to the right.

Stewart Cemetery contains 7/10 acre and is not affiliated with any church. The land record lists no owner other than Stewart Cemetery. It sits on the side of the road in a half moon shape, the semi circular side to it's rear, with a dirt road delineating it. There are several modest homes on the other side of this road. The side facing Walden Rd. is set back and runs parallel with the road.

It is a poor cemetery with some headstones, some funeral home markers and many unmarked graves. It is not maintained but it is not abandoned. There have been recent burials and there is room for more gaves. There are about 3 distinct areas of graves but no orderly arrangement of grave sites. You can park by the side of the road.

I recorded from existing headstones and readable funeral home markers on Nov 21, 2004. FH indicates a temporary funeral home marker.
