During the 1960s and 1970s, Leonard Barnes, a well meaning elderly caretaker of the cemetery, made a number of cement markers, using the plat of the cemetery as a guide

HICKS, Wm?, (A story here, first murder in Webster Co NE, various records give various first names, Chas? William?, Elias?, Haikes (Hakes?) was killed 03 Jul 1871 by a man named Bobier in quarrel over tree. He was buried behind his cabin on his homestead, preememption of which was purchased from his widow by Noah Wagoner.
