This cemetery was established in 1864 by members of the First German Protestant Church which adjoined the property on Cleves Pike (now Bridgetown Road) or south side of the cemetery. The deed was recorded at the courthouse on Dec 01, 1864. Additional land was added and developed to the north and a second entrance from 4337 Harrison Avenue for a total of about twenty-two acres.

In approximately 1904, the operation of this cemetery was placed in the control of a private board of trustees. A monument was inscribed with the following: "This tribute is made with loving respect in honor of the Pioneers of Green Township" was erected in Bridgetown Cemetery where the reinterrment of the remains and gravestones were buried from the Green Township Cemetery.

Gravestone inscriptions are the only records for Bridgetown Cemetery from 1864 until 1875. From 1875 until 1904 the burial records were written in German script and some pages may be missing. Bridgetown Cemetery is still an active cemetery in the community of Bridgetown.
