Sheep Pen Cemetery is managed by a joint effort by Madison Township and Perry Township. The cemeteries lies just a few feet inside the Madison Township boundary. The same boundary also defines the Highland County and Fayette County line.

Burials began at Sheep Pen Cemetery in the 1830s. The cemetery also goes by the name, "Gustin Cemetery". It's also named "Limes Cemetery" for the Limes family.
