Frazer Cemetery

From Altus, Oklahoma, drive west on Highway 62 approximately 2 mile. Turn South onto N 2020 Rd which is paved. Cemetery is approximately 1/2 mile on the West side of road.

Frazer Cemetery, which was established in 1885, is located on a creek which flooded the area after heavy rains at one time. The town was moved about 2 miles north and re-named Altus (which means higher ground). The cemetery is all that remains of the original town. There are numerous broken markers and empty spots where markers once were.

I surveyed and transcribed this cemetery in the fall of 2003. This includes all existing headstones.
