Location: The cemetery is located off of Smith Hill Road near the intersection of Smith Hill Road and McClintick Road in Jay Township, Elk County, Pennsylvania. To access the cemetery, you will travel by foot alongside of a creek on an old dirt and gravel road. The cemetery is located in a wooded area that is surrounded by trees

Background

Ownership: This may or may not be private property. The present ownership of the cemetery is currently unknown.

Boundaries: There is no wall, fence, gate or similar enclosure surrounding the headstones other than trees, bushes, brush, etc.

Condition: The cemetery is in poor condition. The gravestones are discolored and barely legible. The stones have seemingly been removed from their original locations. The headstones of Starr Denison and Chloe Stone Denison were held up by sticks and logs. The headstone of Edmond Denison was broken in half. The footstones were also randomly scattered about.

Causes of Damage: Possibly due to weather/vegetation, age of stones, poor maintenance and possibly vandalism

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
