Mims Lake Cemetery
Berkeley County, South Carolina
Lat: 33° 10' 40"N, Lon: 80° 17' 37"W
Contributed by Richard N. Foreman, Jan 15, 2004 [gofigure@gowebway.com]. Total records = 9.
The cemetery can be reached from Exit 187 of I-26. Take Hwy 27 north for 2.9 miles. The cemetery is on the west side of the road, across from an inactive landing strip.
The nearest town is Ridgeville, South Carolina, about 6 miles away. It is on land belonging to the McDougall Correctional Institution, north of the Pringletown community.
The cemetery consists of 2 small plots, each enclosed by a battered and rusty iron fence. The cemetery is being maintained. Readable headstones date from the 1850s and 1860s.
This transcription includes all existing and legible headstone readings from when I visited and walked the cemetery on 20 Feb 2002. There is 1 unreadable headstone, and broken headstones indicating additional burials.
