Kirk Cemetery
Kirk, Limestone County, Texas

Lat: 31° 35' 10"N, Lon: 96° 43' 41"W

Contributed by Bruce Jordan, Aug 10, 2003 [bjordan@glade.net]. Total records = 1,015.

From Highway 164 between Mart and Groesbeck, turn north on FM 339, go 3.2 miles. The cemetery is on the left in the Kirk Community. It is clearly visible from the road.

Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs donated land to the Kirk Community in 1883 for a cemetery, school, and churches. The first grave is for a child buried in 1885.

Some of the older settlers buried in Kirk Cemetery are: W.W. David, Kirk's first postmaster; Rev. G. L. Jennings, Kirk's first Baptist preacher, and Elder A. Price who helped organize the Baptist church.

The Kirk Cemetery is well maintained and is still accepting new burials.

Linda Jordan and I walked and read this cemetery in Apr 2003.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
