From Groesbeck, go east on Highway 164 and turn right on FM 937. Stay on FM 937 until junction with FM 3371 at Old Union community. Turn left. Go about 3/4 mile to LCR 750. Turn right. The cemetery is located behind the Old Union Church of Christ.

The Old Union community was originally known as Ferguson Prairie. This settlement grew up around the property of Joseph and Hannah Ferguson who settled here about 1847. Listed on early maps as Ivanhoe, but the name changed following the establishment of the Union church in 1877.

The present building was built in 1913, and it is also used as a community center. The cemetery is situated behind the church, and is still accepting burials. Annual homecoming memorial services are held each June.

The information was gathered by reading the tombstones in February 2004

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
