Elk Hall Cemetery
Buckingham, Buckingham County, Virginia

Lat: 37° 24' 33"N, Lon: 78° 30' 20"W

Contributed by Jim Cooke, Feb 06, 2006 [jecooke88@hotmail.com]. Total records = 17.

Beginning at the Buckingham Courthouse, proceed south on Rte 633, turn right/west onto Rte 635, and proceed to Rte 608 & turn left. The cemetery is located south and east of the intersection of Rtes 635 & 608.

The Elk Hall Cemetery dates back to 1785. The Elcans were a Jewish family who settled Buckingham about that time. It has burials as recent as 1985.

I found this cemetery in good condition. It is fenced in with Iron Fencing. There are about 6 unmarked graves within this cemetery.

I walked this cemetery in 1988. This includes all existing and legible markers and stones at that time.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
