Beginning at Cumberland Courthouse
proceed west on Rt 60 to Rt 45.
Turn left (south) onto Rt 45.
Proceed south on Rt 45 to Rt 640 at Guinea Mills.
Turn left/east onto Rt 640/Holman Mill Road.
Follow Rt 640 to Rt 660/Horsepen Road at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Running west, directly opposite Horsepen Road, is a subdivision road, unimproved.
Take the road west back to a culdesac. Cemetery is on the right at the base of a large tree.
Fence used to mark graveyard.
Land was owned by Colonel Charles Womack (War of 1812). House was built by him in 1811. Cemetery contains family of John Milton Smith and descendants. JM Smith bought the land in 1851. Slave graves are located down the hill from the Smith Cemetery, as are Womack graves, all unmarked.
This Smith Cemetery is on what is known as Honeysuckle Acres and I found it overgrown with periwinkle and hardwood.
I walked this cemetery in the 1980s. This includes all existing and legible markers and stones at that time.
