Memaloose Island Burials
Klickitat County, Washington
Contributed by Douglas L. Taylor, Dec 18, 2000 [highprairie@gorge.net].
The remains of the Indians buried on Memaloose Island were removed to other burial grounds when the water was raised. This is a list of those disinterred from Memaloose Island and buried in Hartland Cemetery, Lot 4 block 3 on Feb 11, 1957. The numbers at the end of each line are apparently the box numbers.
"Eleven boxes in common grave as per contract between the U.S. Corps of Engineers and Wm. Gross Contracting Co, Responsible relative: Louise Van Pelt Spino. Smith Callaway Chapel, By L. R. Smith"
