Cemetery History
Washington State Veterans Cemetery was dedicated on May 31, 2010 with the first interment taking place on Jun 7, 2010. The state provided 120 acres of land for the facility and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provided an $8.8 million federal grant to design, construct and completely the operation. The cemetery sits adjacent to Fairchild Air Force Base, overlooking West Medical Lake. The initial ground breaking ceremony was held on May 25, 2009.
