Portage Newspaper 05-27-1882 reports death of five Henion children of Diptheria, ages 4-16yr...
Diphtheria-- Mr. A. Henion's Family who reside on Conant street, in the second ward, is suffering severely from diphtheria. All of their children, five, have been taken down with it. One has died and it is said two or more of the others cannot recover. Just as we go to press, we learn that two of the above named children died Thursday, and that in case of the remaining two, there is no hope of their recovery. The first and youngest died on Sunday last aged four years; the oldest is 16. A whole family of five children swept off in a single week! It is awful. The house has been quarantined.
