Forest Center Cemetery lies about 3 mi north of Springdale. Traveling north on Hwy 231, turn west onto Forest Center Rd, curve right or north onto Long Prairie Road. Cemetery will be on your right/east side of road across from a farm.

This cemetery originally was used by, and located in, the small town of Gray, Washington. It is now only a farming community. Gray Road was about all that was left to continue to have that name when I was there in 1999. Most residents of the area may not even know the town once existed. Now the road is called Forest Center Road.

This cemetery had gone to weeds, the first time I visited. I was very pleased when I visited in 2006 to see that it has been completely restored, even some stones repaired and all the overgrowth has been removed by interested people in the area. I say they have done a good job.

A good record of births and deaths was not kept for many years prior to Del Field taking over. There was just the map which leaves one not knowing if the person who purchased the lot is actually buried there, unless you can find their headstone or a legal record. If anyone can fill in the rest of some of the names, please contact me.

In 2010 Mr Field resigned and the Forest Center Cemetery Association has been established with Pres. Jim Myers, V-pres. Wes frick and Sec-Treas. Doug Willms.

I will always remember headstones buried in immense growths of bushes, one huge ant hill and a hornet's nest to entertain me. I can now say, they have been removed.
